This lecture is dedicated to an exploration of non-linear dramaturgies as alternatives to the frequently used linear dramaturgy. How can we understand non-linear dramaturgies today? What kinds of alternatives to linear dramaturgy do we see used in the performing arts in Denmark and abroad?

In this lecture, associate professor in theatre and performance studies, Solveig Gade, will investigate performance and visual art pieces by Arkadi Zaides, Thomas Sarracenco, and Rugilė Barzdžiukaitė, Vaiva Grainytė and Lina Lapelytė. These contemporary artists’ engagement with non-linear, participatory dramaturgies allows for encounters between human agents and more-than-human agents, such as spiders, ghosts, and exhausted planets.
